Blisopolis -occasionally referred to as Blisopolis City to distinguish it from the state of Blisopolis- is the capital and largest city in Blisland. A global power city, Blisopolis exerts a significant impact in commerce, culture and technology. Blisopolis is an important city in diplomacy, as the United Nations has its headquarters situated in the city. Blisopolis' location on the globe makes it advantageous to immigration and shipping.
Blisopolis has the largest port in Blisland, making it the principal shipping location within the country. It is comprised of two major boroughs, North Blisopolis (often known as the Old City) and South Blisopolis. The city has an estimated population of 8,503,723 making it the city with the highest population and population density within Blisland.
Blisopolis was first settled nearly 15,000 years ago by the ancient Blissish people. The word 'blis' itself derived from the Blissish language (a word with infinite meaning and of importance to the ancient people) and was used to mean 'beauty' or 'beautiful land'. The region was first settled by the Franch in 1624, with multiple trading posts and townships established. These were soon consolidated into a single region, named 'Novo Piras'. In 1664, the region was renamed to Blisopolis. The city has remained the largest city in Blisland since its foundation.
Blisopolis is a cultural hub for tourists and residents, with Space Junction (the hub of the Theater District) and its surrounding area receiving around 39 million visitors annually. The BSX, or Blisopolis Securities Exchange is the worlds largest and most important stock exchange with the largest income and listed businesses. Blisopolis is home to many important historic sites, such as Patriot Point, Blis Mountain and countless more locations. Blisopolis is home to the worlds most prestigious university; the University of Blisland.
